FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions about LED neon signs
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before ordering a custom LED neon from Omineo. If your question is not answered below, our team in Wrocław will be happy to help — just drop us an email or use the contact form.
Orders, delivery and shipping
How long does production and shipping take?
A standard LED neon takes around 7 to 10 working days to produce in our Wrocław workshop, plus 5 to 10 business days for shipping anywhere in the European Union. For UK addresses, allow an additional day or two for customs clearance. Larger or more complex installations — such as channel-letter facade signs or multi-piece light boxes — typically require 2 to 4 weeks. We always confirm the exact lead time in writing once your design has been approved.
Do you ship to my country?
Yes. We deliver to every member state of the European Union, as well as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland. EU shipments are free of customs duties because we manufacture inside the EU single market. For UK customers, we handle the export paperwork and use trusted couriers with full tracking and insurance. If you are outside Europe, please contact us — we have shipped to addresses in North America, the Middle East and Australia on request.
Do prices include VAT?
Prices on omineo.com are shown net by default, with the applicable VAT rate added at checkout based on your delivery country. EU business customers with a valid VAT number can purchase under the reverse-charge mechanism (zero-rated). UK customers are charged VAT in line with HMRC rules for low-value imports, or zero-rated above the threshold with import VAT collected on delivery. The exact breakdown is always visible in your basket before payment.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and direct bank transfer (SEPA for euro accounts, faster payments for GBP). Business clients can request a pro-forma invoice for accounting purposes. All online payments are processed through PCI-compliant gateways with 3-D Secure authentication, so your card details never touch our servers.
Can I return the neon if I don’t like it?
Custom-made products are exempt from the standard 14-day EU right of withdrawal, because each Omineo sign is built to your unique specification and cannot be resold. However, if your neon arrives damaged, faulty or differs from the approved design, we will repair, replace or refund it free of charge under our 2-3 year warranty. This is also why we always send a free digital mock-up for your approval before starting production.
Customisation, design and use
Can I customise size and colour?
Absolutely — that is the whole point of a custom neon. You can choose the exact width and height, pick from a palette of single colours (warm white, cool white, pink, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, ice blue), upgrade to RGB or RGBW for colour-changing effects, and select the shape of the acrylic backplate (cut-to-letter, rectangle, rounded). Our online configurator shows the live price as you customise, and our designers will fine-tune the artwork before production.
Can I order a custom logo?
Yes. Send us your logo as a vector file (SVG, AI, EPS or PDF) and we will translate it into a manufacturable LED neon design, advising on minimum line thickness, colour matching and mounting. If you only have a JPG or PNG, our in-house designers can redraw it as a vector for a small fee. We work with everything from independent cafes and tattoo studios to international franchise brands needing consistent signage across multiple locations.
Do you make wedding neons?
Wedding neons are one of our most popular categories. Couples typically order their initials, surname, a meaningful phrase or a date in elegant cursive script. We can deliver across the EU within roughly 2 to 3 weeks if your wedding date is tight — just tell us the deadline at the time of ordering and we will prioritise production. Many of our wedding signs are designed to be re-used afterwards as a beautiful keepsake on a hallway or living-room wall.
Do you offer installation service?
For domestic indoor neons, no installation service is needed — every sign arrives with mounting hardware, a clear instruction sheet and a plug-and-play transformer. You simply screw it to the wall and plug it in. For large outdoor facade signs, channel letters or commercial light boxes, we partner with certified installers in most major European cities. Tell us the postcode at quotation stage and we will include installation in the offer if available in your area.
Technical questions
What is the warranty period?
Every Omineo neon is covered by a comprehensive warranty of 2 to 3 years, depending on the product line. The warranty covers LED modules, the power supply, soldering and workmanship. It does not cover physical damage caused by drops, water ingress on indoor-only models, or modifications made by third parties. To make a claim, simply email us with your order number and a short video showing the issue — most cases are resolved within a few working days.
Are your neons safe for indoor use?
Yes, completely. All Omineo LED neons run on safe low voltage (12V or 24V DC) supplied through a CE-certified transformer that converts mains electricity. There is no risk of electric shock from touching the neon itself, the surface stays cool to the touch even after hours of operation, and there are no fragile glass tubes or noble gases like in traditional neon. They are perfectly safe for bedrooms, children’s rooms, nurseries and bathrooms (with the correct IP rating).
Can I use this neon outdoors?
Many of our neons are available in an outdoor specification. The difference is the IP rating: outdoor models are sealed to IP65 or IP67, meaning they are protected against rain, dust and even temporary submersion in the case of IP67. The acrylic backing on outdoor signs is also UV-stabilised so it does not yellow in sunlight. When ordering, just select the outdoor option in the configurator — there is a small price premium for the extra sealing and weatherproof connectors.
What is the IP rating and what does it mean?
IP stands for "Ingress Protection" — an internationally recognised two-digit code that tells you how well an electrical product is sealed against solid objects and water. The first digit (0-6) covers dust, the second (0-9) covers water. IP20 is fine for dry indoor use. IP65 is dust-tight and resistant to water jets — perfect for outdoor walls or covered terraces. IP67 survives temporary immersion. We label every product clearly.
How much electricity does the neon consume?
LED neon is remarkably efficient. A typical small bedroom sign measuring around 50 cm wide draws roughly 8 to 15 watts — about the same as a single low-energy light bulb. A large 1.5-metre commercial logo might draw 40 to 80 watts. Running an average sign for 8 hours every day costs only a few euros per year on European electricity tariffs. Each product page on omineo.com lists the exact wattage so you can budget precisely.
Can I dim the neon?
Yes. Most Omineo neons can be dimmed, either through an in-line dimmer included with the cable, a remote control (standard on RGB and RGBW models) or a smart-home controller compatible with WLED, Tuya or similar systems. If you want a wall-switch dimmer compatible with your room’s existing controls, just mention it when ordering and we will fit a compatible driver. Dimming also extends LED lifespan and reduces electricity consumption proportionally.
Does it come with RGB colour change?
RGB and RGBW are optional upgrades available on the majority of our LED Neon Classic products. RGB lets you cycle through millions of colour combinations using a remote control or smartphone app; RGBW adds a dedicated white channel for clean, neutral white tones that pure RGB cannot reproduce well. The price uplift is roughly 20-25% over a single-colour neon. Pick the option in the configurator and the live price updates instantly.
How is it mounted to the wall?
Standard mounting is straightforward: the acrylic backplate is supplied with pre-drilled holes and a set of stainless-steel stand-off screws (sometimes called distance brackets or spacers) that hold the sign roughly 2-3 cm away from the wall, giving a beautiful floating appearance. For renters or temporary installations, we can supply hanging chains or strong adhesive strips. Larger commercial signs may use concealed brackets or direct screw fixings — we always include the right hardware for your design.
What materials do you use?
Our backplates are cast PMMA acrylic (also known as Plexiglass) in clear, white, black or coloured finishes — chosen for its UV stability and optical clarity. The neon itself is a flexible silicone-jacketed LED strip, soft to the touch and unbreakable. Power supplies are housed in CE-certified plastic or metal enclosures. For 3D channel letters we work with brushed stainless steel, painted aluminium and acrylic faces. For light boxes we use aluminium frames with translucent acrylic faces.
Is the neon hand-made or machine-made?
Both — and that combination is the secret. We use CNC routers and laser cutters to shape acrylic backplates with sub-millimetre precision, because no human hand can match a machine for a perfectly cut letter edge. But the LED neon strip itself is bent, fitted, soldered and finished entirely by hand by skilled artisans in our Wrocław workshop. That is the only way to get a clean line on a tight curve and to make sure every sign passes our visual inspection before it ships.
What’s the difference between Frontlit and Backlit letters?
Frontlit letters are 3D channel letters with the LED light shining out through the face of the letter — the look you see on most shopfront signs and supermarket facades. Backlit letters (sometimes called halo-lit) have the light shining out of the back of the letter onto the wall behind, creating a soft luminous halo around each character. Frontlit is bolder and more readable from a distance; backlit is more elegant and architectural. Many premium brands combine both.
What’s the lifespan of LED neons?
The LED modules we use are rated for 50,000 hours or more of continuous operation. To put that in perspective, if you run your sign for 10 hours every single day, the LEDs will still be working after more than 13 years. The transformer typically lasts 5 to 10 years and is easy to replace if it ever fails. With normal residential or commercial use, an Omineo neon will outlast the room it is hung in.
Are they eco-friendly?
LED neons are dramatically more sustainable than the traditional glass tubes they replace. They use up to 80% less electricity for the same brightness, contain no mercury or noble gases, generate almost no heat, and the LEDs themselves are recyclable as standard electronic waste at the end of their long lifespan. Our acrylic backplates are also recyclable. We ship in cardboard packaging with paper inserts wherever possible, and we minimise plastic in transit.
